In this podcast Dr Shaadi Manouchehri will discuss all things dentistry including, but not limited to, common dental conditions and treatments. The show welcomes guests regularly, including dental professionals and experts in their fields as well as patients who will share their personal journey and hopefully provide some entertainment along the way! This podcast may also at times feature alternative but relevant topics such as social media and dentists, mental health and facial aesthetics. Dr Shaadi is a cosmetic dentist based in London having graduated from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, followed by completing postgraduate training posts in specialist fields including paediatric dentistry, restorative dentistry and oral and maxillofacial surgery. She regularly features in dental journals and has recently published “How to Get into Dental School”, a beginner’s guide for prospective dental students.

Dr Camilla Morrison graduated from University of Birmingham, UK in 2015. Since then she has become well established in the dental industry developing a keen interest in aesthetic restorative dentistry. Dr Morrison is an international speaker for Invisalign, teaching clinical techniques to dentists across the globe. She is passionate about providing the right treatment to give her patients optimal results whilst creating a strong, trusting relationship with each client.
In this episode, Dr Morrison and I talk about her journey from transitioning out of a busy NHS practice to becoming an international speaker for Invisalign. We talk about some of the challenges of defining your ideal career path and our advice to young dentists who are in the process of defining their career pathway.
In the second part of this episode, we talk about Invisalign clear aligner system; cases we can treat with this system and how we can actually align the teeth with a clear aligner. We talk about the psychological benefit of improving the appearance of the teeth as well as the potential positive impact on one’s oral and dental health.

Dr Maria Kalkani is a specialist paediatric dentist having qualified as a dental surgeon in 2007 from the University of Thessaloniki followed by completion of her postgraduate training at the University of Leeds. Dr Kalkani has worked as a children’s dentist in Community Dental Services across London and as a clinical lecturer to undergraduate dental students at Guy’s Hospital.
In this episode Dr Kalkani and I talk about the difference between children’s teeth and adult teeth as well as what children and parents can be doing to maintain oral and dental health at this critical stage. We talk about practical ways of minimising the risk of dental decay and what children’s ideal oral hygiene routine and diet consists of.

Dr Ahmed qualified from Barts and the London School of Dentistry with Distinction. He was awarded the MJDF at the Royal College of Surgeons of England where he was invited to lecture at this college training dentists. Dr Ahmed completed a Diploma in Restorative Dentistry from UCL and further progressed in this field, achieving the Masters degree (MSc) at the Eastman Dental Institute, with distinction and went on to being published in the Journal of Dentistry. He is the principle dentist at Harrow on the Hill Dental and Facial Aesthetics clinic in London.
In this episode we talk about a popular cosmetic procedure: composite bonding. We discuss clinical cases that can be treated with composite bonding, risks and benefits as well as maintenance. We discuss the procedure in detail and talk about what you can expect if you are having composite bonding and related procedures including aligning and bleaching the teeth.

Dr Nehal Doshi is a general dental practitioner and an experienced tutor with a passion for teaching and mentoring. She graduated from Queen Mary University of London in 2017 achieving Distinction in all five years and 'Best Overall Student' in 4 out of the 5 years. She was awarded many academic accolades and was nominated to represent her University at the prestigious University of London Gold Medal competition. Through her tutoring she works with a wide range of students, providing subject specific guidance, confidence-building and helping bridge the gap from GCSEs to A-Level/IB and onwards. In this episode we talk about how you can prepare for your dental school application. Dr Gore qualified from Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Dental Institute in 1993. Since qualifying, she has held various Senior House Officer posts in hospitals in the UK and has worked in general practice both in the UK and Australia. She has completed several postgraduate training programmes including a Masters in fixed and removable prosthodontics. Dr gore is passionate about training young dentists and has been a dental foundation trainer for over 10 years.
In this episode, Dr Gore and I discuss the impact of COVID-19 on dentistry. Dr. Onkar qualified as a dentist from King’s College London in 2019 and then went on to complete his dental foundation training in Essex. He is currently training as a dental core trainee in Oral Surgery/Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Eastman institute. Onkar is passionate about education and keen to give back to the next generation of dentists; you can often find him teaching alongside Dental Training Consultants or as an honorary lecturer for King’s Dental Society. He uses his Instagram to document the life of a junior dentist, with a no-frills, raw approach showing both the highs and the lows of his experience in the workplace. Onkar also enjoys writing and has been published in the BDJ, Young Dentist Magazine, the BDA Blog and also won the best case presentation during his foundation training year.
In this episode Onkar and I talk about our experience with Dental Foundation Training; the NHS training scheme for dental graduates in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. We talk about the highs, the lows and Onkar shares how his training year was affected by the coronavirus pandemic. We also talk about what we have learnt from our experience and advice we would give to our younger self.
