In this podcast Dr Shaadi Manouchehri will discuss all things dentistry including, but not limited to, common dental conditions and treatments. The show welcomes guests regularly, including dental professionals and experts in their fields as well as patients who will share their personal journey and hopefully provide some entertainment along the way! This podcast may also at times feature alternative but relevant topics such as social media and dentists, mental health and facial aesthetics. Dr Shaadi is a cosmetic dentist based in London having graduated from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, followed by completing postgraduate training posts in specialist fields including paediatric dentistry, restorative dentistry and oral and maxillofacial surgery. She regularly features in dental journals and has recently published “How to Get into Dental School”, a beginner’s guide for prospective dental students.

Dr Wadia is a specialist periodontist having completed her specialist training programme at King’s College London and her undergraduate training at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. Dr Wadia is very enthusiastic about teaching and lectures internationally as well as run courses for both newly qualified dentists as well as hygienists. She was a clinical tutor at Barts and The London for 5 years and is now an associate specialist at King’s College Hospital. She enjoys sharing what she learns through her dental blog and is a co-editor for the British Dental Journal.
In this episode we talk about gum disease and why it can remain undetected for some time until the damage becomes irreversible. Dr Wadia explains what periodontal disease is in simple terms and the predisposing risk factors. We talk about the importance of oral hygiene in periodontal care and Dr Wadia discusses an ideal oral hygiene routine. We also talk about gum recession, how it occurs and how it can be treated.
